Mobile apps for SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) typically include apps for conducting Inspections, also known as Operator Rounds, and executing Work Orders. This enables Plant Operators as well as Maintenance and Field Service Technicians (FST) to capture readings of asset/process data and execute Work Order operations. Technicians can also search for spare parts that are needed for repair by looking up inventory in SAP. However, full-blown inventory or warehouse management processes are typically not available in mobile SAP EAM apps. What if there was a simple way for the technician to receive material or issue it or move it?
How is this problem solved today?
Typically, this problem is solved today by providing technicians with a separate mobile app for Inventory or Warehouse Management. This enables functionality like Stock Look Up, Move Stock, perform Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, and Inventory cycle counts. Purchase Requisition (PR) can also be enabled allowing users to create a PR if the material is not in stock or in lesser quantity than needed.
Unvired has itself taken this approach by deploying for customers 2 mobile apps—one for SAP EAM and one for Inventory or Warehouse Management. While this works, the User Experience is not seamless. They have to work with two different apps, keep them updated, and need additional training. So, we have come up with a better way to handle this.
