Abstract:
Kaneka Americas is a leading manufacturer of chemicals. Equipment inspections, maintenance, and inventory management were originally paper-based, and data was manually entered into SAP Plant Maintenance.
Kaneka Americas partnered with Unvired, a Houston-based SAP partner company, to deploy mobile apps for SAP Plant Maintenance. These mobile apps allowed Kaneka Americas to perform asset inspections and rounds, execute work orders, and conduct warehouse processes on Windows tablets. The results included IT/OT data convergence, better quality management, reduced maintenance costs, and increased wrench time.
In this session, Kaneka Americas will discuss the business case for mobile EAM, implementation best practices, challenges, and results/benefits.

NuStar Energy had paper-based disconnected processes for asset inspections, work orders, and master data management, where data was captured on paper forms and later manually re-entered into SAP Plant Maintenance. With paper-based processes, NuStar Energy ran the risk of unexpected downtime, data loss, and safety and compliance issues.
To streamline operations, NuStar Energy decided to mobilize what had been paper-based, disconnected asset management processes, moving from reactive to preventive maintenance, and enhancing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) compliance. NuStar Energy partnered with Unvired, a Houston-based SAP partner company, to deploy a mobile app for asset inspections, work orders, and master data management that works offline and integrates with SAP. RFID scanning, geolocation, HSE enhancements, and digital forms integration are the app’s highlights.
In this session, NuStar Energy will discuss the business case for mobile EAM, as well as challenges, findings, and results/benefits.
